Week 13 – Weeds ‘n’ Things

This past week has been on the busy side. Had to replace the wax ring on my toilet (also finally got around to installing the hand-held bidet I bought last year), the weeds are taking over faster than I can get rid of them (see photos below). You may think you have weeds if you get some dandelions showing up amongst your grass…we have some of them, but with the winds (and bird poop) we get lots of other pretty, and nasty, stuff.

Speaking of wind, my poor Iceland Poppies are having a heck of a time standing up after blooming; I had taken to cutting them off and bringing them in the house, but then I want to bees to enjoy them too…such is my dilemma. On the plus side I have been enjoying taking kaleidoscope photos of them, I won’t bore you with all of them, just posting 2 recent photos.

I did make time to do some digital creating. I finished with April’s Digital Journal/Planner and exported it, I also got around to making a Digital Art Tag…couldn’t decide which color I liked so I’m showing both versions and will let you decide. Please comment below whether you like the blue version or the orange brown version.

And, finally, I got a new LensBaby lens…the Velvet 28. I’ve been enjoying playing with it, but it is a lot heavier than I was expecting. Since I’ve been using my iPhone for photography since last October, my wrist and thumb are not used to holding/using my Fuji XT-3 and lens combinations; I’m trying to slowly change that. I also finally got around to playing with the Creative Bokeh optic that I bought a couple of years ago and never tried out – it’s lots of fun. Stay tuned for the LensBaby post with samples.

Now, on to the photos…

Weeds, Weeds, and More Weeds!

Backyard Weeds
weeds, weeds, and more weeds!

As you can see from the photo in the upper right hand corner we have weeds that look like lettuce, don’t let their innocent look fool you…they get mean and nasty as they get bigger, and then they bite when you try to remove them! Upper Left and Lower Right photos are another type of weed we have. They have pretty purple flowers, which I don’t mind, but after that they turn into the pitchforks you see above…and wait a little longer and those spikes dry out and turn into convoluted arrows that stick to your clothes and shoes! I had to throw in a dandelion seed head, just because!

I’m just amazed at the beautiful colors of flowers my 2 plants kick out! On one plant there is a white flower and an orange flower; the other plant has 3 peachy colors and 1 orange…well, they did. With the wind lots of petals have been shed. 😦

Digital Art Tags

I Create - Blue
I Create - Orange Brown

Here are the 2 digital art tags I created. I used elements from The Graphics Fairy Premium Membership site. Objects from Architecture 1 Bundle were used to create the background and the cool guy is from the Steampunk Aesthetic Bundle. Almost forgot, the blueprint digital paper is from Creative Fabrica.

That’s all for Week 13. Yes, I’m late in posting this, but I finally got it done! Thank you for taking time to read this post, view the photos and comment with you choice of tag. Please stay safe!

  1. Hadn’t seen tags from you before. They are cool. Love the dandelion photo. Gorgeous. I need to learn your skills in fixing things. My bathroom is leaking. I used to just put in a basin and then pour the water on the plants but it’s been getting worse so now I may have to do something. I hope to get back into blogging and reading blogs but we’ll see. Looks at the leaking sink. Looks at my laptop. Yeah, well. Let’s blog, lol.
