Here’s another abstract from yesterday. The benches and chairs around the library building all have the same design. I decided to have some fun with today’s photo…putting my left foot and leg into the shadow of the bench; and no, I didn’t do the hokey pokey! 🙂

Have you ever tried ON1 Effects? I download a free copy via a photography magazine and it seems hard to use other than the presets and filters.

I tried it about 5 years ago back when I was using Windows

How do you like ON1 Photo RAW compared to Lightroom?

Depending on your computer, ON1 Photo RAW is much faster than Lightroom, mostly because you don’t have to wait for it to import your photos into a “catalog”. I highly recommend doing a 30-day trial and watching YouTube videos on using the software. I find processing RAW files easy in ON1, and I love their “big softy” vignette (filter).

I’ve heard people say it is slow but I never had that problem. In fact every change I apply takes a fraction of a second, something I’ve never found with any other software except Photoshop. The Sony software is so slow I can take a shower and shave before they take effect. Sometimes my mind is goin’ through them changes, I feel just like I’m in the time…

The “slow part” in Lightroom is waiting for importing of photos into the catalog. With ON1 it uses your folder structure (think Adobe Bridge but without having to open the photo in another program) so you don’t have to wait for a catalog to be built. I just think there’s better software out there now than what Adobe offers, plus I don’t like their business practices. Check out JChristina’s videos on YouTube, he’s a professional photographer who cut the Adobe cord this year, he’s created a whole playlist of his alternate software to use instead of the Suite.

Thanks Debbie but I can wait 20 seconds while a new folder loads. The reason I asked was because I deleted a file with disk cleanup and thought I would have to subscribe to Adobe, but fortunately I reinstalled my Lighroom standalone version and its working fine now. I put in a few years learning it so I’ll probably stay with it. Thanks again.
