Day 206 of 365

Yesterday I briefly mentioned a spider that had taken up residence in the fortnight lily plant/bush. It was still there this morning so I decided to make it my subject. I got some photos of its back, then something got its attention and it swung into action…now it showed me its belly. I liked how it was positioned in the center of his/her web so that was the photo I decided to go with today.

Topaz Studio 2 came out today, actually, they sent me an email yesterday and I downloaded it then, but forgot to install it. Just before processing this photo I took the time to install the latest version, then style today’s photo. They’re not really advertising it as being a RAW processor, but as a program for creative editing. Since I had problems with the Fuji RAW files in the 1st version, I decided to run the JPG version in the latest version. It took maybe 10 minutes to get this look; part of that time was spent scrolling through the “looks”/presets.

  1. If you have software that doesn’t recognize your RAW file try the free Adobe DNG converter. I use it because I have an older version of Lightroom. Its an extra step but very fast.

    1. It recognizes it, it just adds a thin black vertical bar to the right side of the photo…weird. It’s the only program that does that. I’ll have to try a RAW file with the new version.
