Still working on converting all of my old posts on my soon to be old site to Gutenberg blocks, but I made a little time to go outside and try out the 62 to 58mm step down ring adapter that showed up today. The Lensbaby Velvet 56 uses 62mm filters, the Lensbaby Omni filter holder that I ordered was 58mm. Normally you don’t want to step down like that, but there is plenty of “dead space” around the lens that I wasn’t too concerned about any vignetting. The test photos I took this afternoon proved me correct; I don’t know if Lensbaby has any plans to sell just the filter holder for their omni filters, and I didn’t want to have to wait for any announcements.
I did the test drive with the Crystal Seahorse and the Stretch Glass filters on a lone fortnight lily, on my Mexican Sage bush, and on the leaves and vines of a Trumpet vine. Below is one of the looks I got with the 2 filters.
