Day 75 of 365

Flat Stanley had a full day today. He ran errands with us, but we also stopped at some cool places in Simi Valley. Today’s photo is from our hike in Corriganville. It was a bittersweet hike for me as I saw how much destruction there was from last years fire; I even broke down and cried a bit. I continued hiking until I saw where the poppies were all abloom, then I followed all the people heading up the trail. With all of the rain we’ve gotten the past 3+ months I guess that was what was needed to make them bloom.

In all the years I’ve been hiking at Corriganville, I’ve never seen this beautiful display of orange gracing the hillside. Nor have I seen so many people out hiking just to see the beauty and take pictures. I had family waiting for me back in the car (and I wasn’t wearing my hiking boots), so I didn’t get a chance to hike further up the hill to get closer photos of our state flower. I may have to go out by myself so I have time to hike up the hill for better shots.

    1. It was! I called my sister today to find out what I need to do with Flat Stanley as he is wearing me out…she laughed.
