This weeks Photo Challenge, Rise/Set, has us “explore the vibrant, hopeful colors of your favorite sunrise or sunset.” I plan on showing you my most memorable sunrise AND sunset. In 2009, I was lucky enough to get to go to the island of Palau and stay with 2 friends who had been living there for the previous 7-8 months.
Every morning, my friends would walk to the community college and run laps at the track while I slept in. On the morning of May 5th, I decided to wake up early and go with them; I didn’t run, I just walked around the track with my camera and took pictures, mostly of the clouds forming in the sky as the sun was coming up. The sunrise photo below was nothing more than being in the right place at the right time, with my camera.
This sunset photo was taken a few days earlier than the sunrise photo above…it was taken on May 1st while eating dinner at Palau Pacific Resort. It was the perfect end to a wonderful day of snorkeling at Jellyfish Lake amidst thousands of jellyfish, and lunch on an unnamed island.

Wonderful skies. The second one is intriguing in complexity of texture. ❤

I couldn’t get over the texture in the clouds…and they looked so close to the Earth too. It was an amazing site, to be sure. Thank you for your comment.

Thank you Aixa. To have seen it in person, made me feel very small in size.

That sunset on May 1st is quiet something. All that could and all that light bouncing off it all giving off those colours. A lovely show to end of the day indeed. Nothing like going away and having a good time and experiencing a good sunrise and sunset too 🙂

Thank you, Mary. Clouds definitely make a sunrise/sunset…something we don’t get much of here in Southern California.
